CROSS ROAD LEAGUE - GAME 1

The first game of the League 2009 got off to a winning start for Promisedland, beating YGOS 2-1. From two wonderful freekicks from Hafiz. However, the game was won not by the free kicks, but it was won instead by a brilliant team effort. The whole formation worked and the players played to their strengths. It was diffcult to select a man of the match from this game as few of the players put displayed match winning performances.
Thanks to Shawn for taking the pictures, but i suggest that next game, try to take the pictures nearer.
here are the ratings:
Dani - 9/10. Played well between the sticks, putting in some wonderful saves that kept us in the game. In the 85th minute, stretched out well to palm the ball away in mid air for a goal bound shot.
Christian - 8/10. Still put in a good performance on the right side, calm in defence, kept the opponent's main striker at bay for most of the game.
Darren - 8/10. It was together with Christian's work on the right side that the defence was well balanced. Used his sweet left leg to great efficency. A threat on the freekicks on the right too.
Ashraf - 10/10. Defintely man of the match candidate. Covered all the grounds in defence. Putting his giant frame in great effect, also listened to coach's advice in keeping his hands away from opponents and not resulting in any fouls conceded. BRILLIANT
Haikal - 8/10. Cool head in defence, needs to concentrate more to push his team up. Putting in some timely tackles.
Darrik - 7.5/10. First game on the right flank, was rather nervous, but still manage to trouble the left side of the opponents, after switching into the centre, manage to find his ground again.
Darryl - 8/10. A constant threat down the left side. Good ball skills that helped the team keep the ball. Needs to be more hungry for goals.
Haifz - 9/10. Two freekicks goals, held the midfield well, improved alot from last year. needs to work on fitness more.
Alif - 10/10. Man of the match. Running his lungs out, covered alot of ground in defence. Sticked to his task for the first half, hence manage to keep the opponents out together with Hafiz. Keep up the good performance.
Hong Teck - 7/10. Few good touches and reading of the game. Needs more presence up front to pressurize the defence. Needs some goals to get the tempo.
Fredrick - 7/10. First full game. Inexperience showed, however will improve with more games to come. Defintely will start scoring goals.
Subs: Farhan 7/10, Jordan 7/10
Nice game to manage and also a good display from the team. Keep it up, lets show all the other teams how football is played.
See ya.

SCHEDULE FOR MAY 2009

Hi boys,

Good first warm up on the 3rd May. I was not very pleased with the goal they scored and i find that our attack was not hungry enough.

We should have been raining shots on them expecially in the first half. We need to bring that up if we want to win the league.

I was happy that Darrik and Farhan both scored. Keep it up, but Darrik, you have to hold the midfield more.

Schedule for May 2009:

16th May - Training. (Compulsory to attend, need to work on the tatics)
23rd May - Friendly match with Global Football (Tougher opponents than the last, players who did not attend 16th training, will not be played.
30th May - League starts

Boys, i want to see you guys have more desire, after the two interviews done, our girls club coach and the New Paper reporter say that you guys are not like a soccer team, nofire and not passionate.

I want to see more of this.

LIVERPOOL VS ARSENAL

Once again, Liverpool played a 4-4 thriller. Arsenal lead 1-0 in the half time interval, once the whistle was blown for the start of the 2nd half, Liverpool came out with a purpose. Attacks kept flooding into the Arsenal penalty box.

2 defensive mistakes by Arbeloa and Aurelio gave Arshavin the chance to punish the Reds. With this draw, it gives Man Utd a great chance to leap away from Liverpool provided they win their game with Portsmouth tonight.

Liverpool fans, we can only keep our fingers crossed.

NUMBER 10

In football, the jersey number 10 is the illustrious and legendary number. Only players who possess the ability to change the game with a stroke of genius are worthy of donning the numer 10 jersey for their team. Here are some of the greats;

Zidane for France.

The great Pele for Brazil
Diego Maradona for Argentina

this year, the number 10 jersey is given to Hafiz, he had a good campaign last year, scoring some goals and controling the midfield. This year, the team will be looking at him to hold down the midfield, spraying the passess and of course banging in some goals outside the box.
With the responsibility of holding this number, can Hafiz do it this year? Or will he be like RAI, the Brazilian captain for 1994 in the world cup being a flop in the number 1o shirt?
We await the league....

Team Pics

SOCCER TEAM 2009

Hi guys,

The soccer team of Promisedland 2009 has been officially formed. This year's team looks defintely stronger than last year's. With great players for every position, especially the right midfield slot.

Should we go for speed? fielding in Fredrick with lots of speed to burn (think aaron lennon), or field Roy? with the deadly crosses with accuracy? (Think david bently) we also have Darryl, good ball skills, and also providing defence cover for the right back (think dirk kuyt) and finally we have our young boy Farhan, eager and able to get into goal scoring positions as seen in the last training session. (think Macheda)

Seems like a great selection headache. But is a good sign as it means that we are more than capable to challenge for the title in the Cross Road League this season.

lets go boys!

The team for Crossroad League has been formed with the first training session be conducted lats Saturday.
